Is Online Hypnotherapy Effective? What Research Shows

Written by Yoshie Matsuura, Certified Hypnotherapist

When people discover I offer online hypnotherapy, the first question is almost always the same: “Does it actually work through a screen?”

Online hypnotherapy is effective—often as effective as in-person sessions, and sometimes more so. The hypnotic state doesn’t require physical proximity. What matters is your ability to relax, focus, and engage with the process.

In my practice, I’ve conducted thousands of online sessions over the past several years. What I’ve observed is that outcomes are comparable to in-person work, and many clients actually prefer the online format.

A study in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found that hypnotherapy delivered via video conferencing produced outcomes comparable to in-person delivery.
